INSTRUCTIONS ON HEAVY GOODS VEHICLE TRAFFIC FOR FOREIGN DRIVERS ENTERING FINNISH PORT AREAS

The aim of the general instructions, completed in the summer 2006, is to improve the fluency of the port visits of the trucks, the work and load safety in ports, working conditions of the drivers as well as the planning of transports and port operations.

The general instructions are maintained by the Finnish Port Association, Finnish Port Operators Association and SKAL (Finnish Transport and Logistics). The port-specific instructions, which include own municipality-specific information of each port, are found on the Internet pages of member ports and operators. The Internet addresses of the member ports of Port Association are found under “Member ports” on this website.

 

General instructions have been edited and translated into English and Russian to be used by foreign drivers:

An informative leaflet in Russian directed to drivers of heavy vehicles was published in 2008 by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The leaflet informs about traffic rules and traffic safety, giving practical examples and advice.
